What We Believe

Beliefs

Why Church?

To many of you, Emmanuel Bible Church is new, untried, and unknown, just as you are to us. We would be delighted for an opportunity to meet you, and for you to meet us. For that matter, we would love for you to be of help to us, as we serve God with a Christ-centered focus. We are here to help and encourage you through the teaching of God’s Word and through biblical fellowship.

The Gospel

Life really isn’t all about us. It’s about a loving Creator who has given us life so that we may love and enjoy him forever. This great God is also the source of great news, what the Bible calls the Gospel.

Philosophy of Worship

Worship is essentially ascribing to God the glory he deserves. “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness” (Psalm 29:2).

Core Commitments

Word-Driven

What is truth? It’s one of the greatest questions we can ask.

We are a community of people who are committed to magnifying the supremacy of God by submitting every part of life to the sole and final authority of the Word through the faithful, expositional, and systematic teaching of Scripture.

Psalm 19:7-11; John 17:17; I Timothy 4:1-2

Means of Grace Ministry

How do we grow?

We are a community of people committed to growing and communing with Christ through the ways God has promised to bless his people. God promises to meet with his people and fortify their faith as they give themselves to prayer, Christ-centered preaching, observing believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper, giving their time and resources, and gathering for worship and fellowship.

Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 2:1-6; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Hebrews 10:24-25

Relational Discipleship

Nobody was created to be a lone ranger.

We are a community of people committed to living transparent lives while provoking each other to love and good works through the transformational power of the Holy Spirit. Our emphasis is not on programs but on relational living and encouraging one another every day so that we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.

Acts 2:44–27; 2 Peter 3:18; Heb 3:12–13; Hebrews 10:24-25

Gospel Transformation

Is the Bible relevant for life?

We are a community of people committed to applying the liberating and binding truths of the Gospel to every area of life.

Romans 1:16-17; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Galatians 5:1, 13

Centrality of Worship

Everyone worships something, but only God is worthy of worship.

We are a community of people committed to making Christ uppermost in the affections of all people by calling them to worship God with every part of their being for their joy and his glory.

John 4:24; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Ecclesiastes 2:25

Gospel Advancement

People worship everything but God.

We are a community of people committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to all people so that they might glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We will do so through evangelism, church planting, and church-centered missions.

Psalm 96-97:1; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 14:23; Romans 15:9

Statement of Faith

Confusion reigns in our culture about what to believe and how to live. Cultural confusion has led some Christians to doubt or to deny crucial tenets of our faith. We want to guide the people of Emmanuel Bible Church through the maze of confusion in which we can so easily get lost.

Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood

We want to help men and women realize their full ministry potential through a true understanding and practice of their God-given roles in our world, homes, and churches.

Nashville Statement

It is common to think that human identity as male and female is not part of God’s beautiful plan, but is, rather, an expression of an individual’s autonomous preferences. We are persuaded that faithfulness in our generation means declaring once again the true story of the world and of our place in it—particularly as male and female.
